The children of Michael Jackson will stay with his mother Katherine after an agreement was made with the late singer’s former wife.
Michael Jackson’s death robbed the world of a performer, but is also left three young children without a father. At his memorial service in Los Angeles the singer’s family were keen to pay tribute to a family man, who devoted time to his kids.
The singer’s will controversially left his former wife Debbie Rowe out of the care of their children. Michael Jackson’s one time nanny, the pair had two children together before divorcing.
Instead, custody of the children was left to his mother Katherine Jackson with Diana Ross named as a guardian in case anything should happen to her. Rowe immediately contested this, and has now been granted visitation rights.
However Katherine Jackson is set to maintain parental rights over Prince Michael Jr. , 12, and Paris Michael Katherine, 11. Katherine Jackson and Rowe will hire a child psychologist to help them decide how and where the visits should happen.
Los Angeles Times reports that the agreement between Katherine Jackson and Debbie Rowe will be analysed by a judge on Monday (August 3rd). The legal service is expected to ratify the settlement.
Debbie Rowe divorced from Michael Jackson in 2000, receiving a $8.5 million settlement. The singer’s one time wife was left out of his will, and will not be given a share of his fortune.
The mother of Prince Michael III aka ‘Blanket’, 7, is listed as ‘unknown’ on his birth certificate.
