Returning Brooklyn space cadets MGMT have launched an unusual quest, asking fans to find the MGMTmobile.
MGMT are back. Almost. Releasing their debut album ‘Oracular Spectacular’ in 2008 the group soundtracked the summer, with Soulwax remixing their single ‘Kids’ into dancefloor heaven.
Since then, the group have toured extensively before retreating to the recording studio. Working with Spacemen 3 member Sonic Boom, the results have been kept under close guard sparking rumours of a space rock direction.
Due for release later this year, new album ‘Congratulations’ is an expansive nine track epic. With fans desperate to hear tracks from the new record, MGMT have launched a bizarre new search.
The MGMTmobile has been parked in a secret location somewhere around London, with fans challenged to find it. Already, people are searching the streets of the capital with the vehicle set to appear on March 18th.
The Brooklyn duo are due to try and help fans, releasing a series of clues via their website and Twitter feed. MGMT have done something similar in Vancouver recently, with the MGMTmobile also driving down to Austin for SXSW.
The first 10 people (18 and over) lucky enough to find the secret location of the MGMTmobile will be part of a very special MGMT experience.
