Metric Discuss Album Leak

Emily Haines expresses her anger...

Metric vocalist Emily Haines has been speaking to ClashMusic about how the band’s new album, ‘Fantasies’, leaked onto the internet ahead of its release.

The Canadian group subsequently streamed the entire album on their MySpace page, to combat illegal downloaders.

Says Haines on the leak, which has seen the band’s fourth album brought forward to an April 6 release date:

“It’s not like we didn’t expect it to happen, but it’s still a huge bummer when it does. We kept it under wraps for six months, and we think we know who leaked it. It’s somebody who has no right, and who took it upon themselves to distribute our record because they want to show off. I’ve not really got an issue with the people who want to listen to our album that way; I’ve got a problem with the person who made it available in the first place.”

Bandmate Jimmy Shaw concluded: “I feel like many musicians come across as being okay with it. Ultimately, what can you do about it?”

Metric’s new single ‘Help, I’m Alive’ is out now, and the band tour the UK in May. Read the full interview and check tour dates HERE.
