Atlanta rapper Mercury has laid out plans for her debut album ‘Merczone’.
The rapper first caught attention with her excellent ‘Merctape’ back in 2021, a dextrous mixtape that flitted between stylistic tropes, patiently asserting her own identity.
Two projects and several EPs later, Mercury has decided the moment is right for her next step – that long-awaited debut album.
Out on October 9th, ‘Merczone’ is a statement of her rise, a 14-track document that spans her sonic passions.
New single ‘high2getby’ is a low-slung rap jam, with the beat’s codeine funk matched to bars of real precision – beneath the title, Mercury is ready to explore difficult areas of her life.
Co-produced alongside Nephew Hesh (MAVI, Westside Gunn), Mercury says of the song…
‘high2getby’ is a song I wrote when I was in LA. It’s really about me and how I cope to exist in life and the small things that make me happy about my life and help me to get by. It’s also a double entendre of the little things in life that make you feel high.
Tune in now.
