Melbourne group Sex Mask have shared their emphatic new single ‘Beheadal’.
The band’s provocative sound blends feral aspects of post-punk – think those early Birthday Party records, or The Pop Group – with cold wave, resulting in something clinical, brutal, and intense.
Live, they’re a force to be reckoned with, with their shows blending art happenings with confrontational noise assault.
Re-issuing their song ‘Birds’, Sex Mask have also decided to share something new, unveiling a double A-side seven inch single in the process.
Out now, ‘Beheadal’ is a full throttle sonic assault, with Sex Mask letting the needle bleed into the red; barbed electronics with an organic feel, the trio channel Fat White Family esque mania across its sub two minute span.
Speaking about their new single, Wry Gray (frontman) says…
’Beheadal’ is about communicating honestly, even when that’s unflattering. Being in the throes of truths destructive capabilities. It might sound abrasive, but it’s about being truthful. Through self hypnotism I was able to briefly access the reservoir underneath consciousness and from there it was a tedious process spanning an entire fifteen minutes.
Tune in now.
