McGee Praises Oasis

Creation Boss Stunned

Former Creation records boss Alan McGee has praised his most famous discoveries Oasis, saying that he is stunned by the group’s ongoing success.

The Manchester musical giants Oasis have recently announced a massive tour for 2009, with over 500,000 tickets being sold in just one day. McGee famously discovered the band playing in King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, and admits that he is stunned by the band;s continuing success.

“It was obvious Oasis were going to become successful,” he told BBC 6Music. “That they were going to sell 54 million albums and go out and do a 168 date tour around the world this year.

“No, I couldn’t have predicted that. I couldn’t have predicted that in 2008 they were still going to be absolutely relevant and still mean a lot to a lot of people. They kind of defy gravity.”

McGee pulled the plug on his new label Poptones last year, and has become a professional Oasis fan telling all who care to listen about the band. However, the record industry maverick insists he is still active.

“I’m still completely into new music and I’m still doing things with new bands, as in my clubs and stuff like that. I’m still going to be kicking about.”
