McGee Lashes Out At MBV

Band A "Joke Signing"

Former Creation boss Alan McGee has lashed out at former signings My Bloody Valentine, calling the reformed shoegazing legends a “joke signing”.

In an astonishing rant on his Myspace page the legendary musical impressario lashed out at his former signings. My Bloody Valentine released two albums and numerous wildly acclaimed EPs in the time they were on the label. However, the protracted sessions for the band’s final album “Loveless” are legendary, as mainman Kevin Sheilds spent thousands of McGee’s (or to be more accurate the bank’s) money on perfecting a pure sonic vision.

Bad blood apparently exists between McGee and My Bloody Valentine man Kevin Sheilds, with the label boss critical of the band’s recent reformation.

McGee said “there is a beautiful irony that the ‘nostalgic cabaret’ that is My Bloody Valentine are throwing at people in 2008 gets critical acclaim in the easily pleased UK press with MBV still playing the exact same set they did 20 years ago and the only trick Kevin Shields has anymore in 2008 is actual volume and double extra pa to numb you and zero new songs.”
