Newcastle punk-funk tykes Maximo Park are set to release their new single ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’ on May 4th.
Led by the bowler hatted figure of Paul Smith, the band broke through with their debut album ‘A Certain Trigger’. With songs as sharp as their appearance, Maximo Park seemed an irresistible commercial attraction.
The band have been working on their third album for some time. Leaving their native North East behind, Maximo Park decamped to Los Angeles to commence writing new material. The sun must have gone to their heads with the new album being perhaps their biggest and boldest to date.
Titled ‘Quicken The Heart’ the album is due for release soon. A tantalising glimpse of new material was given to fans with the recent download ‘Wraithlike’. Maximo Park will follow that track with new single ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’.
Seething with rage again social complacency and small town boredom, it is escapist pop at its finest. ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’ is a thrilling blast that bodes well for its parent album. Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe was so impressed by the track that after giving the single its debut he immediately spun it again – high praise indeed!
Maximo Park will release their new single ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’ on May 4th, the track will be available on CD, 7 inch and digital download.
