Maximo Park Line Up In-Stores

Five intimate shows announced

Maximo Park have lined up five in-store appearances to toast the launch of new album ‘The National Health’.

Remaining one of the country’s biggest guitar groups, Maximo Park’s new album ‘The National Health’ finally hit record shops today.

A brisk return for the Newcastle group, Clash reviewer Gareth James wasn’t impressed. “Listening to this does serve to remind you of the ferocity and frankly enormous tunes found on Maximo Park’s first two albums” he wrote. “Unfortunately, other than aiding nostalgia, there’s not much else nice to say about ‘The National Health’. The drums still dash, the guitars are still artfully angular and the lyrics still leave a lot to be desired”.

Brushing this criticism aside, Maximo Park have lined up several in-store appearances. Taking place this Saturday, the band will race around their native North East before concluding the run at Newcastle’s Beatdown shop.

A quick quote from Paul Smith. “All of us are regular record buyers and we prefer to indulge this passion at the shops of independent retailers who have a genuine love of music and knowledgeable, friendly staff. With that in mind we’ve decided to try and play at five North-East independent record shops in one day to celebrate the release of ‘The National Health’ – an organisational nightmare and quite possibly foolhardy, but we like to stretch our boundaries occasionally. Join us!”

The schedule is as follows:

11.30am Sound It Records, Stockton
1.45pm Hot Rats, Sunderland
3.30pm RPM, Newcastle
4.45pm Reflex, Newcastle
6pm Beatdown, Newcastle
