Maverick dance producer Matthew Herbert has offered fans an exclusive glimpse of his exciting new politicized jazz project with free download ‘The Story’.
Out-there knob twiddler Herbert has unveiled his new project – The Matthew Herbert Big Band. A highly politicized new jazz project, it blends straight swing era music with electronics in one of the most unusual musical projects to cross our path in some time.
Herbert has place new track ‘The Story’ as a free download on his official site. The new song samples 70 copies of The Sun newspaper, 70 celebrity gossip magazines, one Madonna album, one copy of a wallpaper magazine and more.
Forthcoming album ‘There’s Me And There’s You’ continues this theme, with Herbert having sent letters to both Prime Minister Gordon Brown and The Queen to contribute to the album. Of course, they refused stating a busy schedule (something about running the country) but no doubt appreciated the gesture.
Tackling such issues as AIDs, climate change, the Iraq war, the monarchy and many more, we suggest that newly elected US president Barack Obama stick it on his iPod forthwith!
Matthew Herbert’s Big Band release their debut album ‘There’s Me And There’s You’ on November 10th.
