Matt Berry, Emma Noble Team Up On Psych-Soul Scorcher ‘Beatmaker’

Tune in now...

Matt Berry and Emma Noble team up on new single 'Beatmaker'.

The song airs on BBC Two's Toast Of Tinseltown, the return of Matt Berry's cult bon vivant character.

As always, the soundtrack caught attention, particularly a storming psych-soul performance.

Matt Berry linked up with London based soul artist (and crate-digger extraordinaire) Emma Noble to craft a version of Doris' 1970 deep cut 'Beatmaker'.

This time round the phat drums and scorching horns are set against Emma's superb vocal, while a dose of Hammond organ gives that Brian Auger appeal.

Following swiftly on from Matt Berry's psychedelic opus 'The Blue Elephant' and his extensive box set 'Gather Up', it's a superb slice of UK psych-soul.

Acid Jazz have given 'Beatmaker' an immediate digital release, while a limited picture sleeve seven-inch follows in March, alongside an instrumental version on the B-side.
