Matt Berry has announced plans for new album ‘Heard Noises’.
The multi-faceted figure is rightly hailed for his skills as a comedic actor, but Matt Berry has also sculpted a fine solo catalogue as a songwriter. Now spanning some 15 years of wonderful music, he’s just unveiled plans for his next step.
Out on January 24th via Acid Jazz Records, ‘Heard Noises’ is Matt Berry’s first full studio album since the psych-speckled success of ‘The Blue Elephant’ in 2021. Last year the songwriter construct a one-off album of library music for the KPM label, but this incoming LP represents a return to fully fledged songwriting.
If ‘The Blue Elephant’ was a homage to UK psych and freakbeat, then this incoming record is a West Coast counterpart – looser, and more collaborative. Guests include Eric D. Johnson (The Shins/Fruit Bats), Pokerface actress Natasha Lyonne and Matt’s Mum’s Choir, with new single ‘I Gotta Limit’ featuring English singer Kitty Liv.
Out now, she’s the perfect foil for Matt Berry’s voice, the two interlocking perfectly.
