Massive Attack have shown their support for the Occupy London movement by launching a series of mixes.
The Occupy movement began as a grassroots protest against the seeming inequalities of the current financial climate. Moving across the globe, Occupy hit London in the Autumn sparking a spontaneous demonstration.
Gathering enormous media attention, the Occupy camp at St Paul’s split public opinion. Now in an effort to show solidarity with the campaigners, Massive Attack have launched a series of mixes.
Roping in some well known friends, Massive Attack are streaming the mixes alongside a simple mission statement:
“we did some mixes in support of the occupy london movement. We don’t see it as left versus right or anarchy versus order but people taking action and applying pressure on a problem that politicians are unable to fix as they are also the shareholders.
look forward to your comments and criticisms.”

Of course, this is far from Massive Attack’s first foray into politics. Earlier this year 3D issued a statement speaking out on the summer riots, which led to widespread criticism.
The mix series apparently aspires to be a-political, so let’s hope fans can get behind the project…
