Mary Anne Hobbs is set to take over the weekday evenings slot on XFM from September 5th.
Leaving behind her influential slot at Radio 1 earlier this year, Mary Anne Hobbs refused to cut down on her work rate. Taking on a lecturing role at the University of Sheffield, the DJ also revealed plans for a coast-to-coast Stateside tour.
Performing at Coachella, the DJ then unveiled a weekly slot at XFM. A welcome return to the airwaves for a natural, likeable personality Mary Anne Hobbs essentially continued where she left off at Radio 1.
Given a more sociable hour, the presenter is now set to spearhead the station’s latest schedule. Mary Anne Hobbs will helm the re-launch of XFM’s classic evening show ‘Music: Response’ from September 5th.
Running between 8pm – 11pm, the Mon-Thurs show is set to mix dubstep, electronica, rock and indie. Perhaps broader than her electronica-fuelled Radio 1 slot, the show will feature Mary Anne Hobbs leafing through the best in new music.
In a statement the presenter said: “This is such an exciting new challenge for me, an unprecedented opportunity to paint much broader brush strokes on primetime radio, and build on a lifetime’s passion and hunger for new music.”
The new appointment is part of a wider re-shuffle at XFM which also includes new shows from Ian Camfield and Eoghan McDermott.
Andy Ashton, Programme Director for Xfm said: “I cannot think of a better person than Mary Anne to spearhead a renewed focus on cutting edge new music in the evenings across the Xfm network.”
“We’re incredibly excited about the changes we’ve made across the schedule as we continue to deliver ‘must listen’ shows to our rapidly growing audience.”
Mary Anne Hobbs is set to launch the re-vamped version of ‘Music: Response’ on September 5th.
