Through his spoken word performances, The Spaceape was able to construct a deeply individual catalogue.
A true original, collaborations with the likes of Kode9 earned the London based artist enormous respect and acclaim. Sadly passing away last year, The Spaceape remains much missed by those touched by his work.
Martyn is set to re-issue his Spaceape collaboration, with ‘Is This Insanity?’ due to be released on January 26th. Alongside a Ben Klock remix, the package also includes the previously unavailable ‘Camberwell Green’.
A note from Martyn:
"The third installment of 3024's KJL series is a reissue of a track off my first album ‘Great Lengths’. ‘Is This Insanity?’ was the first collaboration with the inimitable vocalist and great friend Stephen Gordon a.k.a. The Spaceape – who sadly passed away on October 2nd 2014. The song was written shortly after Stephen's daughter was born and deals with the rollercoaster of emotions one goes through taking care of a new life. You carry on because there's a responsibility, but at the same time you ask yourself whether this is insanity?"
"The tune got a massive boost in 2010 in the shape of Ben Klock's monumental remix of it. That record has been out of stock for ages, so I put that on the B-side here for you. I treat this record as a memory but you're more than welcome to bang it out in the club of course! Enjoy.."
