Marti West has shared his latest single ‘Somebody New’.
The track is a whole-hearted embrace for West’s indie-rock background, a glimpse into this spring’s upcoming album ‘Talking To Strangers’. From start to finish, the artist constructs a warm listen that favours an acoustic instrumentation, setting the scene for his resonant songwriting. West’s mellow tones carry the track’s deeper sentiments, a whirlwind of emotions that entail a fading relationship.
Raised in a musically gifted family, West quickly started to form his own creative inclinations. The past 6 years have seen the artist fine-tuning his own sound, carving an independent path for himself where he now releases under Marti West Music.
‘Talking To Strangers’ follows 2018’s debut ‘VIII,’ a hazy collection of tracks that blend melancholia and longing into one. Live performance feels like a thriving environment in which to re-imagine West’s material, feeling all the more ambitious in the year ahead.
‘Somebody New’ marks a new chapter for Marti West, seizing his next full body of work with a new perspective and approach.
Speaking on the track, West explains: “‘Somebody New’ is about coming to terms with a relationship that has broken down. The lyrics portray a sense of denial about the ending of the relationship and paranoia about a partner moving on. Sometimes in these times we can think or act irrationally, and ‘Somebody New’ is about those little moments of madness – and dancing through the pain.”
Tune in now.
