Martha Rose will release new album ‘Close To Close’ on May 31st.
The songwriter is based in Berlin, drawing from the British folk canon but blending this with left-field aspects. Taking time over her debut album – a potent statement for any artist – Martha Rose linked with renowned producer ET at his studio in Neukölln.
The two melted together her songwriting with disparate elements – vintage drum machine samples, Yamaha keyboards, live recordings – to produce something striking.
Out on May 31st, the 11-tracker leads with new single ‘The Same Feeling’ and it finds the English-born artist dealing with her life-long sensitivity. Attune to different energies, Martha Rose can find her emotions amplified by her surroundings.
Channelling this into a new song, she comments:
“I have always struggled with holding back my tears, and have often been called oversensitive. This song is a dark nod to these maleficent powers, which I long to harness one day. There is a feeling of nightime danger and glamour, and a relentlessness to the melodies in this song, which keep pushing through the emotional walls they are trying to understand.”
