Marling / Wiley Team Up Rumors

Update: Marling Denies Claims

Folk songstress Laura Marling has denied collaborating with grime star Wiley, claiming that the first time she heard the rumor was in a news report.

British red top Daily Star quotes the grime star as saying that he wishes to work with Laura Marling. One of the top figures in the grime scene, he would make an unusual musical partner for Laura Marling, who plangent folk influenced album ‘Alas, I Cannot Swim’ won a nomination at the Mercury Music Prize.

“We’ve spoken a few times on the phone and we’re definitely doing something together,” he said. “It might seem an unusual collaboration but it will work. We don’t need to stay with rap or folk. We might come up with something completely different.”

A new interview with website For Folk’s Sake has put an end to the rumors. Laura Marling claims in the web chat that “I have no idea where that’s come from. Somebody forwarded me the link to a story about it the other day. I haven’t heard anything about this!”. Before adding that Wiley may be “telling a little lie there”.

Laura Marling released her new single ‘Night Terror’ on Monday (October 27th). A stunning track, it reflects her remarkably assured songwriting talent.
