Mark Ronson has rolled back his recent declaration of sapiosexuality.
The producer gave a recent interview in which he claimed to be sapiosexual – attracted to someone's intelligence, before looks.
The wording caused uproar online, with Ronson's comments being framed as a 'coming out' narrative.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, he apologised for this, and explained that he only learned of the concept on the day of the interview.
He clarified: “I do not consider myself part of any marginalised community and I apologise if anybody misunderstood or took offence to it…”
Mark Ronson had the concept explained to him shortly before the viral interview, and responded: “That sounds great. Of course, who wouldn’t be?”
Explaining this further, he told Rolling Stone: “It sounds like I went on a TV show to be like, ‘Guys, I have some big news!’ And the fact that I would go on and sort of declare myself — like as a heterosexual white male — part of any marginalised community was terrifying to me, or just embarrassing.”
