Mark Ronson has been beaten by The Script in the race for number one on the British albums chart.
Mark Ronson is one of the most influential men in the music industry, with his golden touch sending countless singles soaring towards the charts. However with his new project the producer has taken a huge risk.
Abandoning his retro 60s trademark, Mark Ronson formed The Business Intl with some close friends. Mixing indie pop, hip hop and more the resulting album is a collage drawing on over a decade in music.
Lead single ‘The Bike Song’ is a bizarre yet catchy childhood ode, with full scale release ‘Record Collection’ gaining warm reviews.
However when it comes to the charts critical reception means very little. Mark Ronson was forced to make do with second place on Sunday (October 3rd) as The Script raced ahead of him.
Claiming number one with their new album, ‘Science & Faith’ finally reached pole position after three weeks. Phil Collins dropped to number three, with ‘Going Back’ sliding away from the number one slot.
The Central Band Of The RAF are a new entry at number four, while Scottish singer KT Tunstall returns with her new album ‘Tiger Suit’. Reaching number five, the low key return will be followed by a full scale tour.
Elsewhere, Manic Street Preachers and The xx have slid out of the Top Ten to be replaced by Katy Perry and an Eric Clapton compilation.
The Top Ten is as follows:
1. The Script – Science & Faith
2. Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – Record Collection
3. Phil Collins – Going Back

5. KT Tunstall – Tiger Suit
