Maripool’s ‘This Time Again’ Revels In Anger

A playful fusion of light and shade...

Maripool has shared new song ‘This Time Again’.

The London based songwriter is approaching her debut EP, with ‘It All Comes At Once’ set to land on October 14th via Practise Music. Real name Natasha Simões, the Lisbon-born bedroom pop talent bought her first guitar at the age of 18, following her first ever payslip at a branch of Whole Foods.

‘This Time Again’ has a charming naivety to it, with her spider-like guitar line revelling in simplicity. The vocal may be sweetly melodic, but there’s a real sense of darkness to what Maripool is expressing, and this dichotomy of light and shade leads to some powerful places of expression.

She says…

“I wrote a really pretty sounding song and I wanted to take it to the extreme with the lyrics. It’s the kind of song where you wouldn’t expect to hear the words ‘I’d like to see you cry, I’d like to see you die’ but at the same time it also made total sense with how I felt. I wanted it to feel like you’re walking through a field of daisies but you’re also really angry.”

Tune in now.
