The Anti-Christ Superstar himself Marilyn Manson is at the centre of a debate over his health with the promoters of an upcoming tour insisting that he does not, in fact, have swine flu.
Marilyn Manson began life as a music journalist before swapping his pen for a guitar and a fair bit of make up. At one point undergoing hormone replacement to grow a genuine pair of breasts, it seems that the metal star has a well honed sense of drama.
Which may explain his recent public announcement of having been diagnosed with swine flu. Cancelled a number of North American tour dates Marilyn Manson revealed to fans that he was ill.
“So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU.” Manson wrote on his Facebook page.
“I know everyone will suggest that fucking a pig is how this disease was obtained. However, the doctor said, my past choices in women have, in ‘no way’ contributed to… me acquiring this mysterious sickness. Unfortunately, I am going to survive. M.”
However in a bizarre new twist promoters Live Nation have issued a statement denying that Marilyn Manson is actually suffering from the H1N1 virus.
“The Gillett Entertainment Group and Live Nation confirmed today that contrary to rumours circulating, Marilyn Manson is not suffering from swine flu,” the statement said.
In a new Twitter posting Marilyn Manson has updated his status to read: “MARILYN MANSON has a clean bill of health and has fully recovered”.
