English songwriter Marcus Mumford will release his debut solo album on September 16th.
Mumford & Sons are currently taking a break, and speculation over the past few weeks held that lead vocalist Marcus Mumford could be about to launch a solo endeavour.
As it turns out, online whispers are correct – he’s doing exactly that.
A self-titled solo album will land on September 16th, following studio sessions with Blake Mills. Released on Island Records, ‘Marcus Mumford’ features some special guests, with contributors including Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, Brandi Carlile, and Monica Martin.
New single ‘Cannibal’ is online – the first track to be released from the project, it also opens the album, a strident piece of acoustic-led songwriting. “I can still taste you / And I hate it…” is the opening line on the opening song – check it out below.
