Manic Street Preachers have raided the archive for a new covers compilation.
The Welsh group have kicked off a series of Spotify playlists, designed to sift through their catalogue, bringing fresh elements to the surface. The second in this series is titled Sleep Next To Plastic, and it focusses on the band’s penchant for cover versions.
The 37 track playlist covers their entire career, and includes several recordings that are completely new to Spotify. Opening with their take on Madonna’s early single ‘Borderline’, it includes some fan favourites – a rollicking take on ‘Take The Skinheads Bowling’, a tender ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head’ – alongside some deep cuts.
New to streaming are tracks such as a fresh take on John Cale’s ‘The Endless Plain Of Fortune’ and an exuberant ‘Bring On The Dancing Horses’, initially penned by Echo & The Bunnymen.
A real treasure trove, Sleep Next To Plastic presents an alternate history of Manic Street Preachers.
Tune in now.
