Manga Saint Hilare and Frisco align on new single ‘Kill Sound’.
Two pivotal MCs, each artist helped in their own way to propel grime forwards, acting as pivotal figures in the sound’s ongoing evolution. Grime’s health – lack of it – seems to be a perpetual social media soundbite right now, but with these two in the game the sound remains as formidable as ever.
New single ‘Kill Sound’ finds two of the best to ever do it go side by side, utilising some crisp MoreNight production. Dipping into soundsystem heritage ahead of carnival season, the sonic bedrock is as hard as the Earth’s crust.
Packed with hard-earned boasts – “I’m one of the hardest” – ‘Kill Sound’ is a showcase for their dextrous word play, continually switching up flows in an act of friendly competition.
It comes just as Manga Saint Hilare takes up a new creative venture, broadcasting on BBC 1Xtra alongside long-time friend Sian Anderson. He comments:
