Major Lazer have stepped in to re-work The Prodigy's ever-vital single 'Smack My Bitch Up'.
In these impossible-to-shock times, it's difficult to imagine the furore caused by 'Smack My Bitch Up'. Riding on top of a chopped up Jungle beat, The Prodigy seemed to apply near Metal levels of noise to their rave template.
Accused of being misogynistic, the lyrics came backed by a stunning video which remains a shocking, visceral experience. Parent album 'The Fat Of The Land' is set to be re-issued in line with its 15th anniversary, and The Prodigy have secured some exclusive new remixes.
Given the album's impact on the United States, it's only right and proper that the band recruit Major Lazer. Essentially now focussing on Diplo's production work, the project decided to tackle 'Smack My Bitch Up' adding some disorienting effects and even a massive drop right in the middle.
