Sydney-based, Somali-Indonesian artist Maina Doe has unveiled her debut EP, ‘ODIWAMS’ (onedayitwillallmakesense).

The six-track reintroduction features previous singles, ‘Lucid Dreams‘, ‘Maybe’, ‘Witness‘ and focus track ‘Don’t Worry Bout Me’, which comes accompanied with a visual. Produced with Finbar Stuart, 18YOMAN, LEN20 and UNO Stereo, ‘ODIWAMS’ explores personal paradoxes, moving between moments of effervescent lightness and heady, spacious RnB; between elegantly-rendered moments of introspection and moments of tactile sensuality.

Of her debut collection, Maina Doe says: “It’s not always easy for me to be vulnerable. So, some of the more vulnerable moments are a little hard for me to grip with, knowing that a bunch of strangers are going to know me like that. The most challenging and rewarding part of this is accepting that I don’t have a choice; the music will push and continue to be made and I have to allow myself to be heard and seen and felt.”

Maina Doe is a part of Australia’s burgeoning underground scene alongside peers Genesis Owusu and Tkay Maizda. She has starred in campaigns with fashion heavyweights Vogue, Chanel, Nike and Calvin Klein, and performed at the Sydney Opera House.

She’s announced her first ever London headline show at The Waiting Room, set to take place September 12th. See HERE for tickets.
