Sydney-based hyphenate Maina Doe has shared new single ‘Maybe’.
The rising force is a talented songwriter, performer, and producer, while also making waves in the fashion world. Part of Sydney’s close-knit creative community, Maina Doe has made connections across genres, melting together these influences into a singular sound.
Maina’s debut EP ‘Odiwams’ will be released on July 5th, and it follows her exemplary recent singles ‘Witness’ and ‘Lucid Dreams’.
Out now, new track ‘Maybe’ is a divine introduction, her soulful vocal recalling those 00s R&B bops while applying her own unique stamp to that template.
Shaking up the influences, the lyrics tackle a key problem – how we navigate a world where so much is reliant on surface perception.
She comments…
“In ‘Maybe’ I was exploring how much we rely on facades to move confidently in the world and how much these facades become a spectacle when you become aware of your own smoke and mirrors. It felt cheeky to express this in a fun and upbeat way.”
