Dubstep trio Magnetic Man have smashed into the Top Ten with their debut album.
With the definition of the genre becoming ever more blurred, dubstep has matched this insecurity with a growing mainstream profile. A number of acts have taken bass music back into the charts, with Magnetic Man amongst the most prominent.
The trio consist of Artwork, Benga and Skream with their debut album ‘I Need Air’ becoming one of the summer’s defining singles. Amidst huge anticipation Magnetic Man released their debut album last week.
Containing a raft of guest stars, the self-titled effort has entered the charts at number five. The Official Chart Company released the final countdown last night (October 17th) with Magnetic Man crashing into the Top Ten.
The trio battled some tough competition, with Cliff Richard managing to beat the dubstep group. The genial singer returned with ‘Bold As Brass’ which has been snapped up by his fanbase, sending it to number three.
However even Cliff Richard couldn’t compete with Robbie Williams, whose new ‘Best Of’ package nestles at number one. ‘In And Out Of Consciousness’ follows the singer’s return to the Take That fold, and follows the progression of his solo career.
Meanwhile, returning Scottish indie giants Belle & Sebastian entered the charts at number eight with their new album ‘Write About Love’.
The current UK Top Ten albums are:
1. Robbie Williams – In And Out Of Consciousness
2. Tinie Tempah – Disc-overy
3. Cliff Richard – Bold As Brass
