Madonna Writes Of Jewish Faith

Singer to discuss Kaballah

Pop icon Madonna has agreed to write an article an article for the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

Madonna is a woman of many talents. In addition to her life as a pop performer the singer has taken on modelling, acting and even at one point writing a story for children.

The Queen Of Pop is currently completing her ongoing ‘Sticky And Sweet’ tour but is due to take time out to write for an Israeli newspaper. Madonna is due to contribute an article to Yediot Ahronot, one of the largest press outlets in the Jewish state.

Madonna has written a piece named ‘How My Life Changed’ which details her studies of Jewish mysticism since she discovered Judaism 14 years ago. The singer is an ardent follower of Kaballah, an ancient set of mystical beliefs derived from the Jewish faith.

In fact the religion is often stated to be a factor in the break up of the singer’s marriage to Guy Ritchie. Madonna’s openness to the faith was allegedly met with a measure of cynicism from the British director.

Of course, Madonna has been through religious phases before. Raised in an Italian-American family the singer has frequently used Catholic imagery, though more often than not it is to rebel against the church.

The video to ‘Like A Prayer’ famously caused a stir with a black Saint figure, while more recently Madonna dedicated a song to the Pope during a concert.

By way of contrast, many in the Roman Catholic church are not particular admirers of Madonna. A series of shows in Eastern Europe were recently hit by protests, while a South American cardinal argued that the singer should repent from a life of lust.

An excerpt from Madonna’s article appears in today’s (July 29th) edition of Yediot Ahronot, while the full length piece will be printed on Friday.

Madonna is due to tour Israel in September.
