Madison McFerrin’s ‘Stay Away (From Me)’ Is Divine

It's a self-produced piece of soulful expression...

Madison McFerrin has shared new single ‘Stay Away (From Me)’.

The singer is the daughter of music legend Bobby McFerrin, and sibling to Taylor McFerrin – strong DNA in that family, it seems. Madison’s journey has included some notable highs to date, including prestigious performances in the United States, and sharing stages with the likes of De La Soul, and The Roots.

New single ‘Stay Away (From Me)’ is out now, and it’s all velvet soul and rhythmic elasticity. Blending the classic with the modern, the song is about losing yourself in your feelings, and trying to regain focus over your life.

There’s a touch of jazz in the arrangement, while the arresting vocal puts us in mind of Erykah Badu in its emotive opulence. Madison comments…

‘Stay Away (From Me)’ served as a conduit to – and through – the fear of the unknown that was so ripe in that moment. One of the first songs I fully produced myself, ‘Stay Away (From Me)’ helped me let go of some of the gripping anxiety that came with our new reality.

Tune in now.
