Returning whimsical indie greats The Maccabees have given fans an astonishing glimpse into their new album.
Based in Brighton, The Maccabees allegedly found their name after randomly finding the word in the Bible. Little else associated with this group is left to chance, however, with the band’s debut album ‘Colour It In’ being widely praised.
The debut album was recorded in an abandoned swimming pool. After gaining permission from the city council to record there the group set up a temporary studio, giving their debut long-player some incredible acoustics.
Lead single ‘Toothpaste Kisses’ was a semi-hit. Buoyed by a quirky video the song embodied all that is great about the group, featuring whimsical lyrics and intriguing instrumentation. Since then The Maccabees have been working on a new album, which is now set to be released later this year.
Titled ‘Wall Of Arms’, the album is eagerly awaited by fans. Not available until May 4th, the new material has been kept under wraps but the band are set to break cover and let fans into the studio.
The new video features The Maccabees performing album track ‘Can You Give It’. A stunning introduction to the new album, the track is amongst the finest the group have written to date.
