M83 producer Anthony Gonzalez has offered up the first preview of their new album.
Beginning life as an experiment in glitchy electronics, M83 soon settled into a more coherent, song-led direction. Culminating in 2008’s ‘Saturdays = Youth’ the band erupted into blissful shoegaze epics.
Their finest album yet, ‘Saturdays = Youth’ saw M83 mix ethereal vocals with blissful electronics. The subsequent acclaim saw the band able to tour the world, before entering the studio last year.
Details have been thin on the ground, although M83 have now uploaded a short video to their official website. Lasting for around one and a half minutes, it was seemingly shot in Gonzalez’ studio.
Featuring synths, floppy discs and more the video opens in a fairly sedate manner before the track evolves into something more expansive.

Speaking to Spin earlier this year, Anthony Gonzalez revealed that the new M83 album would be a double with a conceptual element. “It’s mainly about dreams, how every one is different, how you dream differently when you’re a kid, a teenager, or an adult. I’m really proud of it.”
“If you’re doing a very long album, all the songs need to be different and I think I’ve done that with this one. Overall, it’s pop — and very epic. Anyone who loved M83 before, they’ll love this album even more. People that hated me, they’re going to hate this, too.”
M83 are set to release their new album later this year.
