UK And Euro Dates Off

UK world pop act M.I.A. has announced that she is to cancel her summer tour of Britain and Europe in order to rest.

Born Mathangi Arulpragasam, M.I.A. is of Tamil origin but came of age in the UK. Coming to prominenece on the internet through the release of such tracks as “Sunshowers”, M.I.A. has earned a rabid cult following due to her eye catching image and eclectic mixing of genres.

Debut album “Arular” was released in 2005 and was nominated for the Mercury music prize, with her second LP “Kala” being released to great acclaim last year. The singer claims she is exhausted by a hectic schedule that includes recording and touring the globe.

The affected dates include not only the European tour but also several festival appearances. The cancelled shows are as follows:

July 4th – Roskilde Roskilde Festival
July 5th – Arvika Arvika Festival

July 8th – Montreux Montreux Jazz Festival
July 10th – Novi Sad Exit Festival
July 11th – Leipzig Splash Festival
July 12th – Liege Les Ardentes
July 16th – Porto Casa da Musica
July 19th – Madrid Summercase Festival
July 20th – Southwold Latitude Festival
