Luna Li Announces New Album ‘When A Thought Grows Wings’

Korean-Canadian artist and multi-instrumentalist Luna Li has today announced her new album, ‘When a Thought Grows Wings’, set for release August 23rd via In Real Life/AWAL.

The LA-based artist ushers in her new era with the lilting cosmic reverie ‘Confusion Song’, co-created with Monsune (SZA, Drake) and Andrew Lappin (L’Rain). Li’s layered harmonies build to a question “how do you see it?” In a simple refrain, she encapsulates a feeling of post-breakup unknowing.

Li shares: “It’s the stream of consciousness that my mind went through following a break-up; the denial your subconscious and body can have for a while when that one person won’t be in your life anymore.”

‘Confusion Song’ is the first signifier of new album, ‘When a Thought Grows Wings’, out this summer. Co-produced with Andrew Lappin, with select tracks co-produced by Monsune, the new record charts a transitional period in Li’s life. Having split from her partner of eight years, leaving her family and friends in Toronto for a fresh start in LA, this album captures Li’s newfound independence and reclamation of self in a chapter defined by being unmoored from reality.

“‘When a Thought Grows Wings’ refers to an idea taking shape; from the smallest seed of a thought into real and tangible action,” Li says of the title and album experience.
