Irish born alt-pop riser Lucy McWilliams has shared her new single ‘Break My Own Heart’.
The 22 year old hails from Dublin, part of a wave of talent from the Irish capital. Her path hasn’t been straight forward, however – Lucy went to university in Berlin, before relocating to London.
Settling in the metropolis, Lucy McWilliams has thrown herself into music, with recent cuts ‘The Woman In Me’ and ‘Medication’ illustrating her deft, mature approach.
New single ‘Break My Own Heart’ glitters with light, the sound of a songwriting achieving an effervescent form of communication. The chorus is an instant ear-worm, an addictive treat that disguises the lyrical melancholy Lucy seeks to describe.
Directed by Julia George, the video finds Lucy McWilliams returning to Dublin to have fun with friends. She explains…
“We had loads of fun making this video! I did it with my friends back home in Dublin; they’re so so talented and all literally my best friends. We didn’t really have a plan [for it], or if we did, we didn’t use it, just ran around and had fun! I’m always so uncomfortable around the camera so I feel so lucky that I had all of them with me for my first video!”
