Acclaimed pianist and composer Lubomyr Melnyk will release new album 'Fallen Tree' on December 7th.
Renowned for his incredible technical skills, Lubomyr Melnyk's work has gently built up its own universe, one that nods towards contemporary movements while maintaining its own path.
New album 'Fallen Tree' emerges via Erased Tapes on December 7th, and coincides with the musician's 70th birthday.
It's a work touched by ecological concerns, with the title referring to a glimpse of felled trees the pianist saw during a railway journey.
“They were glorious,” he commented recently. “Even though they’d been killed, they weren’t dead. There was something sorrowful there, but also hopeful.”
New piece 'Son Of Parasol' is online now – typically hypnotic, you can check it out below.
