Lu.Re’s ‘Hold On’ Explores Soulful UKG Through An Introspective Lens

It's taken from her incoming EP...

Lu.Re has dropped new track 'Hold On'.

The Neil Radio resident is infatuated with club sounds, drawn towards the many facets of UKG, broken beat, and future-facing jazz.

A full EP is incoming, crafted in her Bethnal Green flat on Pro Tools, piecing together beats and recording vocals during quiet moments.

Using music to explore her OCD diagnosis, new single 'Hold On' views 2-step through an introspective lens.

The neat jazz flourishes in the keys are mirrored by those snapping snares, so redolent of London after-hours.

The soulful vocal takes 'Hold On' somewhere new, however, and the lyrics dig into deep-rooted feelings.

Lu.Re says: “I’m a big overthinker and when I was writing the EP I was dealing with a lot of anxiety. I had no idea what I was experiencing was OCD because it wasn’t washing hands, it was mental compulsions for me – rumination. The EP was already written when I understood what was going on with some help from the NHS, so looking back it’s a bit wild it had come out so blatantly as Ruminate. I hope it can bring some light to others.”

Tune in below.
