Love Ssega Releases ‘Out Here Looking’

The single is accompanied by a fairly unusual video…

British-Ugandan singer Love Ssega has dropped ‘Out Here Looking’, a slow burning disco jam that brings to mind the carnival vibes of Passion Pit or Crystal Fighters, albeit with the considered lyricism of Tiggs Da Author.

He also self-shot the single’s striking black and white video, a Wes Anderson and Eduardo Paolozzi-influenced affair that features clips of watershed moments in recent African history intercut with Ssega’s face, partially obscured in a style that brings to mind the distinctive poster campaign for Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’.

‘Out Here Looking’, which features Friendly Fires’ Jack Savidge on drums, follows a string of dancefloor-ready singles such as ‘Noise’ and ‘Pray For Love’ which have been praised by taste-makers such as Annie Mac, Julie Adenuga and Phil Taggart.

‘Pray For Love’ was also remixed by both Formation and Will Saul. Ssega’s soulful style of disco has also seen his track ‘Hypnotise’ featured on Kitsuné’s Hot Stream.

Love Ssega will perfom at the Gold Dust club night at Hoxton Bar & Grill on May 22nd.W
