Louis VI Delivers A Future Jazz Bop With ‘Confidence’

Nubya Garcia hits those soft saxophone notes...

Louis VI wants to reflect his jazz heritage.

The London artist has always had a love affair with jazz, with what it can suggest about the diasporic experience, and where it might go next.

New song 'Confidence' matches supple double bass and jazz-leaning rhythms to a trap beat, a crisp combination that presents some future paths.

Nubya Garcia nails those saxophone vapour trails in the distance, while Louis VI's dexterous flows occupies the limelight.

The visuals are online now, and they conjure classic scenes of New York cinematography. Louis VI explains…

“Gerssis David and I shot this (video) in Brooklyn spontaneously. The sky was crazy that night and we just climbed on a roof and shot. We didn't know what was going to come of it or what it would look like but it fit so well with the vibe of the track.”
