South London artist Louis Culture has today shared self-produced single ‘Mannequin’, lifted from a project landing later this year.
The new single follows last year’s club-adjacent dual release, ‘GRAMMAR/NO LOVE’. Over glitchy, elevated production, Louis explores his creative inertia; the spark of inspiration coming from nothing but the void.
Louis explains: “My friend Dom Valentino (producer) let me use his studio for a week but going into it I wasn’t really feeling too inspired or even in the mood to make music. But what I did know I was looking for a feeling that I hadn’t really explored yet. On one of the last days of studio I made a bunch of beats and thought nothing of it. Then that following Monday I woke up at home, pretty much blacked out and made this. Mannequin was the feeling I was searching for, which ironically is about feeling nothing.”
This April, the progressive rapper embarks on a headline tour which includes a homecoming show at London’s Village Underground on April 18th.
