Lou Reed and Metallica have revealed the full tracklisting for their collaborative album ‘Lulu’.
Lou Reed has pulled some strange stunts in his time, but this may just take the biscuit. The legendary songwriter has been working with Metallica, re-working a score he supplied for a German ballet.
The thrash icons have been entrusted with giving the material a new edge, and sessions appear to have gone well. ‘Lulu’ is due to be released on October 31st, with Lou Reed proudly asserting that it is the best album he – or anyone else – has ever released.
Now details of the full tracklisting have emerged. ‘Lulu’ is set to have ten tracks, with some epic track lengths amongst them. Closing cut ‘Junior Dad’ lasts for an astonishing 19 and a half minutes, while two cuts – ‘Cheat On Me’ and ‘Dragon’ – reach out towards the eleven minute zone.
Unveiled on the ‘Lulu’ website, the full tracklisting reads as follows:
1 Brandenburg Gate
2 The View
3 Pumping Blood
4 Mistress Dread
5 Iced Honey
6 Cheat On Me
7 Frustration
8 Little Dog
9 Dragon
10 Junior Dad

Reported by the NME, Metallica singer James Hetfield recently spoke about the collaboration. “We were very interested in working with Lou. I had these giant question marks: ‘What’s it going to be like?’ ‘What’s going to happen?’ So it was great when he sent us the lyrics for the Lulu body of work. It was something we could sink our teeth into.”
“I could take off my singer and lyricist hat and concentrate on the music part. These were very potent lyrics, with a soundscape behind them for atmosphere. Lars and I sat there with an acoustic and let this blank canvas take us where it needed to go. It was a great gift, to be asked to stamp Metallica on it. And that’s what we did.”
‘Lulu’ is due to be released on October 31st.
