Lostprophets have announced their split, with frontman Ian Watkins still awaiting trial on charges of child abuse.
Emerging from the tail end of nu metal, Lostprophets were a gateway band for a generation of British rock fans. Touring relentlessly, the Welsh band found huge success both at home and abroad.
Frontman Ian Watkins' arrest, though, changed all that. The singer has been charged with 23 sexual offences, which involve offences against children and two charges of raping a baby.
The news left both fans and band members shell shocked. Taking time to dwell on the revelation, Lostprophets have now confirmed that they are to split.
Writing on their Facebook page, the band told fans:
After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been.
