New album 'Melodrama' is out now, a striking, ambitious work that finds Lorde revealing in creative freedom.

Speaking to New Zealand's The Spinoff, the songwriter explored a track by track breakdown of her new album.

Discussing 'The Louvre', Lorde revealed that she was heavily influenced by Frank Ocean while writing the track.

She explains: "It’s just like this big dumb joy and it’s intense – and I feel like the instrumentation in that song kind of helped it get there.”

“In this sort of post-‘Blonde’ landscape, we can all sort of do whatever we want in terms of instrumentation… It’s exciting. I can use guitars and I can get a big gnarly Flume beat and throw it under water."

'Melodrama' is out now.
