Super Swedes Loney Dear have announced their quick fire return with new album ‘Dear John’ set for its stateside release on January 27th.
The band were formed around Emil Svanangen, a genius of melancholy lo-fi pop. Loney, Dear is effectively his solo project, though other musicians join him in the studio and on stage. After years of recording songs in the basement of his parents’ house, word of mouth on Loney, Dear propelled the young Swede to the attention of American indie Sub Pop.
The group’s breakthrough album ‘Loney Noir’ was released in the US in February 2007 and this new release comes just under a calendar year later. Phew!
Now snapped up by Polyvinyl, new album ‘Dear John’ is a another typically melodic burst of melancholy.
