Signalling her return with the edgy, infectious single ‘Groove It Out’, Lonelady effortlessly fused the sounds of early 80s post-punk and industrial with a 21st century approach.
New album ‘Hinterland’ drops on March 23rd via Warp Records, and promises to be something quite special. Lonelady: "It's channelling Parliament/Funkadelic, Stevie Wonder, Rufus, Prince, Arthur Russell...among others. A strange - but nonetheless real - meeting of funk and...me from Audenshaw, Manchester."
Before then, you can feast your ears upon new single ‘Bunkerpop’. Given a 12 inch release from February 23rd, it’s an edgy slice of punk-funk which draws upon the same fetid well of inspiration which fed 99 Records, Factory’s early noir and The Rapture.
As usual, though, Julie Ann Campbell can’t help but tug the track into some highly unusual areas. Check it out below.
