Matching house with hip hop...

Real name Matt Cutler, Lone has never been afraid of change.

Initially finding acclaim for his drifting, down tempo productions, Lone then ramped up the energy for the rave infused 'Galaxy Gardens'.

The producer's fifth album, though, finds Lone shifting yet again. 'Reality Testing' will be released on June 16th, with R&S once again harbouring the English artist.

Says Lone: "I was listening to a lot of Detroit techno and old Chicago house that had the same grain and dirtiness to it as a lot of the hip hop I was listening to. That was the real spark - I wanted to make an album that had both hip hop and house beats, but that weren't completely different from each other, that shared the same sort of vibe. I love the idea of two things sat side by side, but instead of it seeming like they're complete opposites, [it's more that] those two things could almost be the same thing."

'2 Is 8' has become the first track from the album to be placed online. With a low slung, wonky rhythm it's definitely hip hop influenced - but check out the glacial synths in the breakdown for some serious Detroit futurism.

'Reality Testing' will be released on June 16th.
