Landmark London boozer The Boogaloo now has its own radio station.
The pub is something of a rock 'n' roll marker, with the Highgate establishment shrouded in much-mythologised debauchery.
Shane MacGowan used to live upstairs, Joe Strummer and Nick Cave used to drink there, while The Libertines worked as bar staff before the good ship Albion finally left harbour.
The Boogaloo is still going strong, and recently launched its own online radio station, broadcasting 24 hours a day.
The studio set up is strictly DIY and is hosted in the pub itself, meaning that the passing musical clientèle are regularly hooked into proceedings.
Recent guests include (deep breath) Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson, Bernard Butler, Ace Records, The Magic Numbers, Irvine Welsh, Johnny Marr, and many, many more.
Each show is catalogued on Mixcloud, meaning that wherever you are – and whatever time it is – you can get served at the Boogaloo.
Pub landlord Gerry O'Boyle comments: “Boogaloo Radio is the most exciting thing we have ever done. We are able to share the pub, its musical heritage, it’s amazing presenting talent and the chaos of operating an online radio station broadcasting to 227 countries from an old bin shed in the pub beer garden in true punk rock guerrilla style. If we were a book, we’d be ‘Please kill me’…”
