Lolo Zouaï Plucks At The Heartstrings On ‘For The Crowd’

It's a glossy return, but oh-so-affecting...

Lolo Zouaï grew up in San Francisco, before following her ambitions to New York.

An artist in perpetual search for inspiration, she knows that a song – or even just a lyric – can appear at any point.

So when she began singing something new in a taxi, Lolo rushed to record it, letting it linger in her head on the journey home.

New single 'For The Crowd' is the result. Beautifully composed future soul, it pits 90s R&B against Bay Area hip-hop production.

A divine vocal with a gritty beat, 'For The Crowd' seems to epitome the addictive contradiction that is Lolo Zouaï. She explains:

““For the Crowd” started as a voice note I recorded in an Uber pool after going to a concert. I came into the studio the next day and played it for Stelios… he loved it. We quickly found the chords and wrote the first draft in an hour. It was a real moment.”
