Local Natives Talk Follow Up

'Gorilla Manor' follow up will take time

Los Angeles newcomers Local Natives have admitted that they will take more to record their second album.

It’s been a tale of two festivals for Local Natives. The band caused a massive buzz at SXSW this year, before returning to the Texan event recently to play a whopping nine gigs in just four days.

The recent release of debut album ‘Gorilla Manor’ may have helped. Local Natives have stunned critics, taking the energy of their live show into the studio for a breathtaking debut.

However the band have warned that they will not be so quick to record a follow up. Singer Kelcey Ayer told BBC 6Music that Local Natives plan to take some time to record any new material.

“Bottom line is just to take more time with it, which I think we’ll do anyway, because we’ll actually be able to focus on just writing a record.”

“Back then we still had jobs and were still finishing whatever we were doing. Trying to live. Trying to eat,” he joked.

Meanwhile Andy Hamm claimed that Local Natives could even use a producer on their second album. “We’ve never been opposed to having someone else help us out” the bass player explained.

“We’d maybe bring a producer on at some point but we’ve just never really connected with someone or had the resources or funding to really go for that, but that’s just helped us.”

“It’s taught us how to hunker down and write songs, and re-write them, and re-write them, and get them to the point where everybody’s 100% comfortable with the song and can stand behind it.”
